Philanthropy Week 2021
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS
Our Story
Alpha Chi Omega is dedicated to bringing awareness and educating about domestic violence. We continuously work to fight unhealthy relationships and build healthy ones through our philanthropic efforts. Locally, Beta Omicron works with the Peace River Center and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (SPCA) to help victims of violence (both people and animals). Beta Omicron hosts its philanthropy week during the month of October and holds events during the week to raise money and awareness for our national and local philanthropies. One of the highlights of the week is Take Back the Night. Victims of domestic violence courageously share their stories and teach others how to seek help in those situations. Beta O also hosts Color Me Alpha Chi in the spring semester. Participants play a variety of paint throwing games with proceeds going towards the Peace River Center. Awareness and education does not stop at philanthropy events. It is a continuous effort made every day to help victims get the help they need and educate others about what a healthy relationship looks like.
